The UNC softball team came up big when it mattered most on Tuesday night in Chapel Hill, scoring three runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to break a scoreless tie on the way to a 3-0 win over the visiting UNCW Seahawks.
Kristina Burkhardt’s two-run single put the Tar Heels (30-15) on the board, while Kiani Ramsey also singled in the frame to drive in the third run.
This late offense helped make sure Hannah George would get the victory on the mound, as she tossed her fourth complete game shutout of the season.
UNCW dropped to 24-24 with the loss.
