Tuesday was a big day for UNC basketball, as five-star Cole Anthony and four-star Anthony Harris both signed to play for the Tar Heels.
The two commitments pushed Carolina’s recruiting class to No. 6 in the nation and second in the ACC behind Duke. Roy Williams praised both players and said Anthony was “one of the most complete point guards I have ever recruited.”
But while Williams might get all the credit for recruiting both players to Chapel Hill, there is another person behind the scenes who also deserves praise.
No, not Hubert Davis.
I’m talking about Armando Bacot.
A five-star recruit from IMG Academy in Florida, Bacot has been a member of Carolina’s recruiting class since August 2018. He projects to be an impact player for the Tar Heels as a freshman, but has also proven himself to be an ace recruiter.
Anthony took several visits to Carolina before eventually committing, and it seemed like Bacot was always there alongside him. Whether it was posing together in Carolina jerseys or sitting courtside for the UNC vs. Duke game, Bacot was never far from Anthony.
When Anthony announced his commitment to the Tar Heels, Bacot reacted accordingly on Twitter.
Bacot’s efforts on the recruiting trail didn’t go unnoticed either. Several people were quick to praise his hard work, including former Tar Heel Nassir Little.

Shortly after Anthony’s commitment, Bacot turned his attention to another target.
Harris tweeted out pictures of himself in a Carolina uniform, which Bacot retweeted and encouraged his followers to show Harris some love.
Later that day, Harris committed to North Carolina.
But the story doesn’t end there. Even after Harris committed, Bacot said the Tar Heels were not finished on the recruiting trail.
UNC has signed four players in the 2019 recruiting class (Anthony, Bacot, Harris, and three-star Jeremiah Francis), but the Tar Heels are still hosting a pair of potential graduate transfers in the coming days. Christian Keeling (Charleston Southern) and Justin Pierce (William & Mary) are both players that UNC will look to sign to round out next season’s roster.
Not long after Harris committed, Keeling tweeted that things at UNC had his attention.

If Roy Williams wants to sign Keeling or Pierce, it looks like he’ll have to put Bacot on the trail.
