After just barely escaping Wake Forest in the ACC opener for both teams this past weekend, UNC moved up one spot to No. 12 in this week’s AP Men’s Basketball Top 25.

The Tar Heels currently boast a 12-2 record in a season where no team entered 2018 undefeated.

Michigan State–which handed UNC its first loss of the year back in November–moved into the No. 1 spot for the first time this season, with Duke, Villanova, Arizona State and Xavier making up the rest of the top five.

Rounding out the top 10 is a group of schools which includes: No. 6 West Virginia, No. 7 Oklahoma, No. 8 Virginia, No. 9 Wichita State and No. 10 Kansas.

The ACC currently has six teams ranked in the top 25. In addition to Duke, Virginia and UNC, No. 15 Miami, No. 24 Florida State and No. 25 Clemson also made the cut.

UNC will go on the road for a pair of ranked match-ups against conference opponents this week, starting with a trip to Tallahassee to face Florida State.

The Tar Heels will then head to Charlottesville for a date with Virginia on Saturday afternoon.
