The UNC baseball team managed to avoid getting swept in Blacksburg on Sunday, picking up a 9-6 win over Virginia Tech in the three-game series finale.

Danny Serretti homered and drove in two runs, while Angel Zarate picked up a team-high three RBIs in a game that was ruled by offense.

UNC (7-3, 3-3 ACC) scored four runs in the top of the second inning, but Virginia Tech (7-2, 4-2 ACC) responded with five runs in the bottom of the frame to take the lead–taking advantage of two home runs and a wild pitch.

The Tar Heels tied the game up in the third inning on an RBI single by Tomas Frick, before going ahead for good with four runs spread across the sixth and seventh innings.

Serretti drove in both of his runs during that time frame, as Virginia Tech only managed to add one more run over the final seven innings.

Shawn Rapp pitched the last three innings for UNC, which earned its first road win of the young season.
