UNC announced Friday that head women’s lacrosse coach Jenny Levy has made the move to re-hire Katrina Dowd as her associate head coach for this upcoming season.

Dowd was previously an assistant under Levy from 2013-16 before leaving to take the head coaching job at Oregon, where she led the Ducks to an overall record of 18-17.

During her previous stint as an assistant with the Tar Heels, UNC won national championships in 2013 and 2016–the only such titles in program history.

Dowd’s main duties for the Tar Heels will be as the offensive coordinator and draw specialist coach, but she will also assist Levy with recruiting, scouting and other aspects of the program.

“The opportunity to bring a coach of her caliber back into our lacrosse program was unexpected but welcomed,” Levy said. “There is no denying the great success we shared when we worked together, and I am looking forward to building on that foundation.”
