The second day of the 2020 ACC Indoor Track and Field Championships in South Bend concluded on Friday, as three Tar Heels earned All-ACC honors and another–sophomore Qhiyal Towns–broke the UNC record in the men’s 60-yard dash.

Towns posted a time of 6.67 seconds in the event, breaking a 10-year-old record previously held by Zach Brown–who ran a 6.72.

In addition to Towns’ spectacular performance, Anna Keefer (women’s long jump), Sydney Banks (women’s high jump) and Draven Crist (men’s high jump) were each named All-ACC performers for their efforts.

Keefer placed third with a long jump of 6.19 meters to earn her fifth All-ACC selection in the long jump while Banks was a Second Team All-ACC choice after placing sixth in the high jump with a mark of 1.7 meters.

Crist, meanwhile, placed third in the men’s high jump with a season-best clearance of 2.14 meters–earning First Team All-ACC honors.

Through the first two days, both the UNC men and women sit in 10th place in the standings.

A total of six Tar Heels advanced to event finals on Saturday.
