The 2020 ACC Indoor Track and Field Championships came to a close on Saturday in South Bend, with the Tar Heels claiming conference titles in two events.

Daniel McArthur defended his 2019 ACC title in the men’s shot put with a throw of 18.34 meters–nearly four feet better than second place–while the men’s 4 x 400 meter relay team also won conference supremacy with a final time of 3:06.66.

The team of Brandon Cachon, Ryan Saint-Germain, Ari Cogdell and Isaiah Palmer set an ACC Indoor Championships meet record with their time, as they now find themselves in prime position to qualify for the NCAA Indoor Championships as the ninth-ranked team in the nation.

By the end of the event, the UNC men found themselves in fifth place on the team scoreboards while the women took home a 12th place finish.

The Tar Heels finished the weekend with two ACC titles, 10 All-ACC performances, four changes to the school record book and 14 new personal records.
