UNC senior Daniel McArthur set a new school record in the shot put on Saturday at the Doc Hale VT Elite Meet, with a throw of 20.59 meters.

A native of Mooresville, NC, McArthur unsurprisingly won the shot put at Virginia Tech with his record-setting performance–a score good enough for No. 3 overall in the NCAA this season.

He was also the only Tar Heel to win an event at the meet on Saturday.
