Three UNC women’s soccer players were selected Thursday as part of the NWSL College Draft, led by No. 6 overall pick Julia Ashley.
A senior defender this past season, Ashley was taken by Sky Blue FC coming off a year in which she earned Second Team All-ACC honors and helped guide the Tar Heels to the NCAA Championship Game–scoring the overtime game-winner against Georgetown in the tournament semifinals.
Two picks later, midfielder Dorian Bailey heard her name called at No. 8 overall by the Washington Spirit. She earned Third Team All-ACC recognition after scoring five goals and dishing out three assists.
Midfielder Alex Kimball was then selected with the fifth pick of the fourth round by Utah Royals FC. She missed the 2017 season with an injury, but came back strong in 2018 with four goals and two assists.
