Back-to-back wins over the team’s most bitter rivals–Duke and NC State–within a 48-hour period this past week helped move UNC up seven spots to No. 14 in the most recent edition of the AP Men’s Basketball Top 25, which was released Monday.

The Tar Heels (19-7, 8-5 ACC) have now won three games in row overall, after previously encountering the program’s first three-game losing skid since 2014.

Virginia took over the No. 1 spot in the poll despite losing to Virginia Tech at home this past Saturday, while Michigan State, Villanova, Xavier and Cincinnati round out the top five.

Other teams in the top 10 include: No. 6 Purdue, No. 7 Texas Tech, No. 8 Ohio State, No. 9 Gonzaga and No. 10 Auburn.

Just four schools from the ACC were ranked in the top 25 this week, with No. 11 Clemson and No. 12 Duke joining Virginia and the UNC in the mix.

The Tar Heels will look to win their third ACC game in five days–something they haven’t done since 1980–on Monday night at the Dean Dome against Notre Dame.
