Another big game from sophomore attacker Jamie Ortega helped the second-ranked UNC women’s lacrosse team put on a dominant offensive showing on Sunday at Kenan Stadium–as the Tar Heels defeated the ECU Pirates 21-3.

Ortega had four goals to bring her season total to 15 through UNC’s first three games of 2019 (3-0), while a total of 13 different players scored at least one for head coach Jenny Levy’s team.

In addition to her turn putting the ball in the back of the net, Katie Hoeg added five assists to finish with six points in the game.

It was the second game in three days for the Tar Heels, which fought for a tough 13-9 victory over High Point on Friday.

“Our focus was just coming out strong and playing sharp,” Levy said afterwards. “In the game on Friday night I didn’t think we looked sharp and engaged at the level we need to be engaged. So that was our goal to come out and take care of business and be really clean in how we’re playing – regardless of our opponent, we need to be able to do that.”
