This past Saturday saw UNC sophomore sprinter Brianna Duncan run the 100-meter dash in 11.27 seconds–breaking the longtime school record of 11.40 ran by former Olympic great Marion Jones in 1994.

Running at the Virginia Grand Prix at Lannigan Field, Duncan both won the race and set the facility record. She also did it without the aid of the wind, which was the reason her time of 11.35 earlier this year didn’t count as the official school record.

Duncan’s time is good enough for fourth-best in the ACC this season, and ranks among the top 30 in the NCAA.

The Massachusetts native now owns the wind-legal school records in the 60-meter dash (7.29), the 100-meter dash (11.27) and the 200-meter dash (23.13).

“Brianna Duncan continues to improve,” UNC head coach Harlis Meaders said. “Fastest time all-conditions at UNC and one of the better times in the conference. She has proven herself to be a consistent performer now, she is an extremely talented kid and we are looking forward to her having an excellent championship part of the season.”
