UNC redshirt freshman Austin O’Connor was honored Tuesday as the ACC Wrestler of the Week, after he played a big role in UNC’s upset victory over No. 8 Arizona State this past Saturday.

O’Connor defeated No. 11 Josh Maruca by a score of 3-2 in order to give UNC its first lead of the dual against the Sun Devils, which improved his overall individual record to 6-1 this season.

Ranked No. 16 at 149 pounds heading into that match, O’Connor moved up to No. 9 after the win.

As a team, UNC jumped from No. 24 to No. 15 in the rankings.
