The UNC men’s golf team officially got a new head coach this week, with the hiring of Andrew DiBitetto–who had previously served as an assistant for the last six years under former coach Andrew Sapp.

DiBitetto was an honorable mention All-America when he was a golfer at UNC-Charlotte, and he’s proven to have a keen eye for talent as a recruiter.

The native of Rochester, New York helped convince current standouts Ben Griffin and William Register to become Tar Heels. Both players enter next season tied for second all-time in UNC career stroke average.

UNC has also won seven team titles and eight individual events with DiBitetto on staff.

“I’m grateful for the opportunity to lead a program at Carolina,” DiBitetto said. “My family and I are excited about this opportunity. The University of North Carolina is a special place that provides a first-class academic and athletic experience.”
