Tuesday marked the first time ever that any player has repeated as the ACC Women’s Lacrosse Midfielder of the Year, as UNC senior Marie McCool did the trick after yet another fantastic season.
McCool continues to be the engine that drives the Tar Heels in all types of different ways. She’s tallied 53 goals and 14 assists so far in 2018, and has caused a team-high 20 turnovers on the defensive end.
One of five finalists for the Tewaaraton Award–the national player of the year honor–last season, McCool is once again on the 25-player shortlist this year.
The Tar Heels are currently coming off their third straight ACC Tournament title following an upset over previously undefeated Boston College, and are awaiting their NCAA Tournament destination.
