The ACC announced Tuesday that UNC senior Kenny Selmon has been named its Track and Field Co-Performer of the Week following his season debut this past Saturday.
Selmon ran a time of 49.00 seconds to win the 400-meter hurdle race at the Hurricane Collegiate Invitational–an event hosted at the University of Miami.
His time was the best in the nation so far this season and fifth-best in the world this year, nearly a full second better than the next closest collegiate competitor (David Kendziera, Illinois- 49.92).
In addition to his performance in the 400-meter hurdles on Saturday, Selmon also anchored UNC’s 4×400 relay team to a first place finish.
This marks the second time in his career he has been recognized as a performer of the week by the ACC.
