The Manchester United Women recently agreed to contracts with a pair of former Tar Heel standouts, as both Alessia Russo and Tobin Heath will make the move to the prestigious English side.

Just last month, Russo was one of two English-born UNC players to opt out of the 2020 season to pursue professional opportunities–joining teammate Lotte Wubben-Moy.

The 21-year-old scored 28 goals and dished out nine assists during her three years in Chapel Hill. She was the co-ACC Freshman of the Year in 2017 and was a First Team All-American selection as a sophomore in 2018.

Heath, meanwhile, has a much more established resume–starring during each of the last two U.S. Women’s National Team World Cup victories and Olympic gold medal wins.

A 32-year-old winger, Heath also helped UNC win three national titles during her four-year college career from 2006-09.

She had previously been playing for the Portland Thorns of the NWSL prior to signing with Manchester United.
