Despite the UNC women’s soccer team missing out on the ACC Tournament for the first time in program history, the Tar Heels are still well-represented in the annual All-ACC teams, which were announced Thursday. Five players received nods from the conference.

Junior defender Maycee Bell represents UNC on the first team. She was a member of the preseason All-ACC team, and made that prediction pay off with her performance this season. Bell started 16 of 17 games for Carolina, missing the season finale due to an injury. She also scored the game-winning goal for UNC in an overtime victory over Stanford.

Sophomore midfielder Sam Meza and senior goalkeeper Claudia Dickey represent Carolina on the second and third teams, respectively. Meza started 15 games for head coach Anson Dorrance, and scored the game-winning goal in overtime against Arkansas in August. Dickey was named ACC Defensive Player of the Week earlier this season and posted seven shutouts. She also scored a penalty kick goal against Clemson.

Forwards Emily Colton and Emily Murphy represent the Tar Heels on the ACC’s All-Freshman team. Despite missing several games in the middle of the season with injury, Murphy still totaled five goals and six assists in her first year with UNC. Colton led the Tar Heels with seven goals on the season, and started all 17 regular season games. She scored two goals each in wins over Illinois and Florida.
