The UNC women’s soccer program released its schedule for the 2026 regular season Monday, which includes matches across seven states and two countries.
UNC begins with a preseason exhibition against South Carolina at Dorrance Field on the evening of Aug. 6. The season officially opens the following Wednesday, Aug. 12 at 7 p.m. when Carolina hosts Fairfield. UNC hosts Quinnipiac the following Sunday before embarking on its first road trip to Arkansas on Aug. 20 at 6:30 p.m.
Carolina returns home to face Michigan State at Dorrance Field on Aug. 23, then will journey to Dublin, Ireland to face Irish professional side Shelbourne F.C. in a previously announced exhibition match at Tolka Park. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. Ireland time (2 p.m. Eastern time) on Aug. 28, the night before the UNC football team takes on TCU in the Aer Lingus College Football Classic.
UNC’s next official matches see the Tar Heels travel from Ireland to the American southwest, as Carolina visits Arizona on Sep. 3 and Arizona State on Sep. 6. Elsewhere in the non-conference, UNC hosts NJIT on Sep. 13 and Alcorn State on Sep. 20.
The Tar Heels open the ACC portion of their schedule with a home date against Cal at 7 p.m. on Sep. 3. Home league fixtures see UNC host Duke (Sep. 17), Notre Dame (Oct. 2), Stanford (Oct. 23) and SMU (Oct. 29). On the road, Carolina visits Virginia (Sep. 25), defending national champions Florida State (Oct. 9), Clemson (Oct. 15), Wake Forest (Oct. 18) and Louisville (Nov. 5).
UNC is entering its third season under the leadership of head coach Damon Nahas. Nahas helped lead the Tar Heels to the 2024 national title while still in an interim role. In 2025, Carolina finished 13-6-2 and reached the third round of the NCAA Tournament before falling to TCU in a penalty shootout.
