Starting next week, several streets in Chapel Hill will begin to be patched and resurfaced, signaling the beginning of a weeks-long effort throughout the town.
A release from the Town of Chapel Hill on Friday shared a timeline for road work to be done throughout the summer by contractors. The message said milling and patching is scheduled to begin Thursday, July 22, to remove old pavement or fill holes. That process is set to last through August 24, with weather permitting.
From there, the town’s contractors will begin repaving the final driving surfaces, with tentative dates of August 2 through August 27 to complete the job.
According to the Town of Chapel Hill, the roads that will experience repaving work include: Allard Road, Arlen Park Drive, Brookside Drive, Caswell Road, Catesby Lane, Cedar Hills Circle, Colburn Point, Collison Drive, East and West Columbia Place Drive, Europa Drive, Faison Road, Frances Street, Gurnsey Trail, Ivy Brook Lane, Karin Court, Kingston Drive, New Castle Place, North Columbia Street, North Roberson Street, Nuttal Place, Nuttree Lane, Old Barn Lane, Ridgecrest Drive, Rigsbee Mobile Home Park, Rossburn Way, Simerville Road, Sourwood Circle, Sourwood Drive, Umstead Drive, Woodhaven Road and Woodleaf Drive.
During the resurfacing work, the town government said contractors will aim to minimize inconveniences to nearby residents and motorists, but some parking and access to driveways may be blocked at times. Drivers should also anticipate minor delays while traveling during the work week, according to the release.
The Town of Chapel Hill also stated the contractors are not permitted to solicit or perform any side projects for residents on private property during the repaving, milling or patching processes. The town warned residents to be cautious of potential scammers who may approach nearby houses offering such jobs to be completed.
