Motorists using U.S. 15-501 and Fordham Boulevard in Chapel Hill will begin to see some lane closures for the next few mornings.
The Town of Chapel Hill shared a release Monday alerting the community about a change in traffic pattern beginning on Tuesday morning. Construction crews will be reducing lanes in front of the Glen Lennox project site, which is between Brandon Road and Raleigh Road.
According to the town’s release, the traffic pattern changes will run from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on weekdays, with work resuming overnight between 7 p.m. and 6 a.m. Additional work will be done on the area between 7 a.m. and 4 p.m. on the weekends.
The redevelopment of Glen Lennox apartments has been underway for some time, as developers add a new set of residential buildings, a clubhouse and an office building to the community. Other approved plans for the project also include new pedestrian and bicyclist crossing, bike lanes, turning lanes and new traffic signalization for the entrance off 15-501, which may be what the lane reductions will be working to install.
The regular traffic pattern shifts are slated to happen until Friday, November 20, says the Town of Chapel Hill.
