At long last, the ACC finally revealed the 20-game conference schedule for the upcoming 2020-21 men’s basketball season–which is scheduled to begin on Nov. 25.

After playing a shortened non-conference slate to begin the season, UNC will open ACC play before the new year with back-to-back road games against NC State (Dec. 22) and Georgia Tech (Dec. 29/30).

The first ACC game at the Smith Center will come against Syracuse on Jan. 2.

A road trip to Miami will come after on either Jan. 5 or 6, before the team returns home to face Clemson on Jan. 9, looking to begin a new win streak over the Tigers in Chapel Hill.

From there, UNC heads back to Florida to take on No. 21 Florida State (Jan. 16) then comes back to Chapel Hill to host Wake Forest on either Jan. 19 or 20.

NC State comes to the Dean Dome for the first home rivalry game of the season on Jan. 23, followed by a road trip to face Pittsburgh on either Jan. 26 or 27.

A home game against Notre Dame on Jan. 30 will wrap up the Tar Heels’ January schedule.

The second half of the ACC season starts on either Feb. 2 or 3 at Clemson, which will be the team’s last tune-up game before traveling to Cameron Indoor Stadium for the first game against No. 9 Duke on Feb. 6. After the Duke game, Miami will come to the Smith Center for a game on Feb. 8–another tune-up before a road showdown at No. 4 Virginia on Feb. 13.

Back-to-back home games against Virginia Tech (Feb. 16 or 17) and Louisville (Feb. 20) come after the trip to Charlottesville. The Tar Heels will then head up north for a date with Boston College on either Feb. 23 or 24, setting up a rematch against Florida State on Feb. 27.

In similar fashion, UNC heads back up north to play Syracuse on March 1 — then comes back home for the regular season finale at home against Duke on March 6.

Any conference games that are unable to be played will only be rescheduled if both teams’ schedules permit it, according to the ACC.

“It is a difficult and challenging schedule to say the least,” said head coach Roy Williams in a release. “We have a young team with a number of freshmen who are going to get a lot of playing time, and those are the type teams that you’d like to have some scrimmages and exhibition games that none of us have this season. But that’s the world we live in.”

“It’s a challenging schedule, but everybody has that,” Williams added, “and we just have to play well on game nights. If we do, then we’ll have a really good basketball team.”

The Tar Heels are scheduled to begin the season at home against College of Charleston on Nov. 25. They will then move on to the Maui Invitational in Asheville from Nov. 30-Dec. 2, and a road game at No. 5 Iowa on Dec. 8.

A game against Elon at home on Dec. 12 and a visit to Cleveland to play Ohio State in the CBS Sports Classic (Dec. 19) are the only other non-conference games currently scheduled.
