The Chatham County Sheriff’s Office identified and charged a suspect in connection to the break-in of a Chapel Hill residence in May.

A release from the sheriff’s office on Wednesday said a residence in the Chapel Hill-zoned part of the county was broken into on May 25. Two victims reported to investigators that more than $6,500 in cash and jewelry was stolen from the home.

The sheriff’s office said investigators eventually identified 26-year-old Victor Rafael Henriquez as a suspect and interviewed him about the break-in. Wednesday’s release said Henriquez, who has an address on Lystra Hills Lane in Chatham County, confessed to the crime at that time.

Henriquez faces charges of felony breaking and entering, felony larceny, and misdemeanor possession of stolen goods or property. He is in the Chatham County Detention Center under a $25,000 bond.

The Chatham County Sheriff’s Office said Henriquez is scheduled to appear in district court in Pittsboro on July 12 for his first appearance on the charges.
