The League of Women Voters is hosting a free documentary screening on charter schools and vouchers and their impact on American public education. Thursday, September 13, from 7-9 pm in Building 5 of the Durham Tech main campus in Durham. There will be a Q-and-A afterward with local school officials.


Saturday, October 20, you’re invited to First Baptist Church on North Roberson Street for the first annual Orange County Black Business Expo. From 10 am to 4 pm, enjoy food trucks and live entertainment, and get to know black-owned businesses in our community.


Wednesday, September 12, SECU Family House is hosting a groundbreaking at 9:30 am to mark the start of their expansion project. When it’s done, the expansion will nearly double the total number of rooms at the house, giving families a place to stay when their kids are getting treatment at UNC Hospitals.
