Monday, August 27, is the first day of school for Orange County Schools; Tuesday the 28th is the first day of school for grades 1-12 at Chapel Hill-Carrboro City Schools.
Get ready for the Carrboro Music Festival! All day Sunday, September 30, with more than 200 acts across 29 venues. There will be a kickoff event on Saturday the 29th as well, with music at Carrboro Town Commons beginning at 1:00 and a show that evening at the Cats Cradle.

Thursday, July 26, NEXT Chapel Hill is hosting a public input session on the expansion of Chapel Hill’s north-south bus transit service. 7-9 pm at the IFC Community House on MLK Boulevard; everyone’s invited to come out, get more info and weigh in.
Wednesday, August 1, come to the Chapel Hill Public Library at 11:30 am for another round of the monthly book club, “Books Sandwiched In.”
This month’s book is “Popular,” by UNC professor Mitch Prinstein – all about different kinds of “popularity” and which ones are more beneficial to pursue long term.
That book is also this year’s selection for UNC’s Carolina Summer Reading Program. Prinstein will be on hand for the discussion – it’s free and everyone’s invited!
