UNC’s ROTC will hold its annual Veterans Day ceremony Monday, November 12, at 11 am at Alumni Memorial Hall.
Sunday, November 11, you’re invited to Smith Middle School for a Veterans Day presentation on the importance of D-Day. 3:30 pm, with a presentation by John Haynes.
Sunday, December 2, head to the ArtsCenter in Carrboro for a holiday bluegrass concert by the Barefoot Movement, beginning at 8 pm. Get tickets and more info online at ArtsCenterLive.org.
The town of Chapel Hill is holding its annual Arbor Day celebration on Friday, November 16, at 9:45 am outside the Chapel Hill Public Library. Third graders from Estes Hills Elementary School will help plant a sugar plum tree as part of the ceremony.
Saturday, November 24, Perch Coworking in Carrboro is holding its annual “Holiday Handmade Pop-Up” from 9 am to 1 pm, featuring the work of local makers ranging from jewelry to skin-care products, food, stationery, and more. Perch is located at 106 S. Greensboro Street in downtown Carrboro.
Head to East Chapel Hill High School for their fall musical, “The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee”! Thursday through Saturday, November 15-17, with shows at 6:30 Thursday and 7:30 Friday and Saturday. Tickets at the door or online at EastReservations.org.
Tuesday, November 13, is “RSVVP Day” in Chapel Hill-Carrboro – the day when dozens of restaurants in our area donate 10 percent of their proceeds for the day to the IFC. Head out and eat on that day and you’ll be giving back to a great cause…get the full list of participating restaurants online at IFCWeb.org.
The town of Hillsborough is marking Veterans Day on Sunday, November 11, with a Town Bell Ringing at 11 am at the Old Orange County Courthouse. This Veterans Day marks the 100th anniversary of the armistice that ended World War I.
Monday, November 12, Orange County will be holding a ceremony to mark the 100th anniversary of the end of World War I. Everyone’s invited to the event, beginning at 11 am at the site of the future Orange County Veterans Memorial, just outside the Southern Human Services Center off Homestead Road.
