Relatively quickly after its formal announcement, a new bar is opening in Carrboro on Monday, September 16.

401 Main in Carrboro comes from the team-up of Al Bowers, of Al’s Burger Shack fame, and Chapel Hill native Chris Baldwin. The bar and restaurant will feature local draft beer and a selection of food (full menu found  here) that clearly aims to please a crowd, from seafood po’boys to fried pickles.

Referred to as “an upscale dive bar” in earlier announcements, 401 Main will leverage downtown location, two outdoor patios spaces and dog-friendly policy to invite locals to walk or bike to the bar and foster a neighborly atmosphere.

401 Main will be open Monday through Friday from 3 p.m. to close, and Saturday and Sunday from noon  – close. 401 Main is located at 401 Main Street in Carrboro at the intersection of Rosemary and Main Streets.
