A new brewery with some familiar faces has opened in the space formerly occupied by YesterYears Brewery in downtown Carrboro.
David Larsen was the founder of YesterYears Brewery and will serve as the brewmaster for the new venture – Vecino.
“We’re a brewery by and for neighbors,” Larsen said in a release announcing the opening of the new bar. “Nothing gives us more pleasure than seeing people coming together as neighbors over locally-crafted beer and food.”
While Vecino Brewing is now open at 300 East Main Street, it will be celebrating its Grand Opening from May 4-6 with events throughout the weekend.
During the opening celebration, the brewery will also be debuting an initiative aimed at giving back to the community by donating 10 percent of sales from a designated beer over the course of a month to a local charity. In May, the donations will be made to the Scott B. Scholarship, established in honor of the late Scott Bertram, co-founder of the outdoor adventure store Townsend Bertram & Co. The scholarship works to give “children experiences in the outdoors that instill a love of the natural world.”
You can get more information on Vecino at the brewery’s website.
