January 12 will be the last day in business for Cameron’s, the eclectic gift shop in Carrboro.

The store owners, Wendy Smith and Bridget Pemberton-Smith, announced in November that the store would be closing in early 2019.

The sisters took over operations of Cameron’s in 2002. But the store has been a staple of the Chapel Hill – Carrboro business community since the late 1970s.

The owners wrote when announcing the store would close.

“Helping you find that perfect card, discovering the latest gift trends at the gift shows and running with it, and watching our customers who started off as kids grow up and have kids of their own: What a gift it has been to own Cameron’s!”

In a social media post, the owners said Wendy would be going to work for Chapel Hill Magazine and Bridget would be working as an art therapist.
