The 23rd annual Carrboro Music Festival is still on, keeping an annual tradition alive and well despite concerns surrounding COVID-19.

This weekend, music fans and local festival-lovers will hear both live and pre-recorded performances from a lineup of artists (the full schedule, including performance times, can be seen here) that includes local favorite such as Tea Cup Gin, the Durham Ukulele Orchestra, Bellflower and Sadie Rock and the Mad Ryans.

As always, the Carrboro Music Festival is free for anyone who’d like to be a part of it. Performances will be taking place on Saturday, October 3 and Sunday, October 4 via livestream at four local venues: Cats Cradle, the Century Center, The ArtsCenter and 97.9 The Hill. Listeners will be unable to access the venues in person, but all performances, including dozens of pre-recorded performances will be available on the music festival’s website beginning at 2 p.m. on Saturday. The live performances at 97.9 The Hill on Sunday will also be broadcast on the radio at 97.9 FM, commercial free, from 1-10 p.m.

Traditionally, the Carrboro Music Festival works to showcase Triangle-area bands and performers with varied musical styles. Everyone who plays during the festival are volunteers donating their talents to foster a strong sense of community while revealing their talents to a wider audience.

The event is a product of a coordinated effort by the Carrboro Recreation, Parks, & Cultural Resources Department and the Carrboro Music Festival Planning Committee. The program is also supported by the Town of Carrboro and the Carrboro Tourism Development Authority.
