This summer will bring blue skies and green grass. But in Carrboro, the start of summer will also mean bluegrass.

Cat’s Cradle announced that it will host the Carrboro Bluegrass Festival, a new music fest set for Saturday, May 24. The announced lineup includes acts such as legendary North Carolina singer-songwriter and two-time Grammy winner Jim Lauderdale, the high-energy, hard-driving classic bluegrass band “Po’ Ramblin’ Boys,” Woody Platt, Bronwyn Keith-Hynes, Graham Sharp, Max Wareham, and more.

“The Carrboro Bluegrass Festival is a wonderful new addition to North Carolina’s music scene,” said Billy Maupin, Festival Director and industry veteran. “With Carrboro’s deep appreciation for live music and its welcoming community, this festival will offer an intimate yet electrifying experience for bluegrass fans of all ages.”

The festival will take place at the Cat’s Cradle Back Yard, which is an outdoor space immediately behind the venue. Doors will be at 1 p.m., and the event itself will start at 2 p.m. There are two different presale price tiers for tickets: standing for $37.87 and seated for $58.37.

The festival’s Facebook release also states that the Carrboro Bluegrass Festival will be an annual event. It will join a growing list of music festivals hosted in Carrboro, including the Carrboro Music Festival on Sep. 28 and the Freight Train Blues Concert Series. It will also take place shortly after the bi-annual Shakori Hills Festival and before the Sonark Harvest Festival, which held its inaugural fest in Aug. 2024.

Tickets for the festival go on sale Friday, Feb. 14, at 10 a.m.
