A battle between two of the nation’s top three women’s lacrosse teams on Saturday in Chapel Hill saw the top-ranked Boston College Eagles remain undefeated this season with a convincing 14-8 victory over No. 3 UNC.

Jamie Ortega led the Tar Heels (8-2, 1-1 ACC) with three goals in the game, including the first of the afternoon to put UNC ahead 1-0.

Boston College (11-0, 2-0 ACC) responded by scoring the next five goals and never looked back as it showed why it’s the current favorite to take home this year’s national championship.

Senior Sam Apuzzo–the nation’s leading scorer–had five goals to lead the Eagles.

For UNC, Taylor McDaniels scored twice and Katie Hoeg tallied four assists as they tried to help Ortega carry the offensive load.

“I thought it was a clinic on how to do the little things really well,” Tar Heel head coach Jenny Levy said afterwards. “They’re a complete team right now and they tested us in ways we needed to get tested, so we can continue to evaluate ourselves to get better.”
