The ACC announced Tuesday that a pair of Tar Heel women’s lacrosse standouts swept the league’s weekly awards for their sport.

Senior defender Emma Trenchard was chosen as the ACC Defensive Player of the Week, while senior attacker Scottie Rose Growney earned the ACC Offensive Player of the Week honor.

Trenchard limited First Team All-American Shannon Kavanagh to just one goal in UNC’s victory over No. 7 Florida last Friday, then recorded a pair of assists to go along with another solid defensive effort in the Tar Heels’ blowout victory over High Point on Sunday.

Growney had four goals against Florida, then added three goals and two assists against High Point.

The Tar Heels are currently ranked No. 1 in the country and have won each of their first three games by an average of nine goals.

Next on the schedule is a home game on Friday against No. 8 Duke, a team that has also started the season 3-0.
