A flurry of goals in the second half spurred the top-ranked UNC women’s soccer team to a 3-1 road victory on Thursday night over the Louisville Cardinals.

The win keeps the Tar Heels unbeaten this season, as they improve to 8-0-0 and finish their regular season road schedule without a blemish.

Louisville (4-4-0) took the lead just after halftime on a goal by Emina Ekic in the 49th minute, but Rachel Jones tied things up for UNC just 25 seconds later when she sent home a pass from teammate Brianna Pinto.

That brief period of time where the Cardinals were ahead represented the first time UNC has trailed all season.

After Jones tied it up, though, it only took three minutes for Sam Meza to put the Tar Heels ahead when she found the back of the net after the ball was deflected on a corner kick.

Taylor Otto then added an insurance goal in the 80th minute to seal up the UNC victory.

For the game, the Tar Heels racked up a 14-8 advantage in shots.
