The fourth-ranked UNC women’s soccer team avenged last year’s loss to the University of Central Florida on Sunday afternoon at WakeMed Soccer Park in Cary, shutting out the Golden Knights by a score of 1-0.

Taylor Otto pounced on a rebound and found the back of the net in the 16th minute after Rachael Dorwart had her shot blocked, a play that would end up representing all of the scoring for the entire game.

UCF–which defeated the Tar Heels 2-1 in double overtime last year–drops to 0-2 this season with the loss, while UNC improves to 3-0-1.

Shot attempts were about even for both teams as the Tar Heels tallied 17 shots compared to 16 shots for the Golden Knights. However, neither team had more than seven attempts end up on target.
