Taylor Otto’s goal in the 53rd minute on Wednesday night at Finley Fields South in Chapel Hill helped the sixth-ranked UNC women’s soccer team battle back for a 1-1 draw against the No. 21 Texas Longhorns.

This after the Longhorns opened the game with a goal less than a minute and a half into the proceedings when Cyera Hintzen capitalized on a Tar Heel turnover in the defensive zone.

UNC (2-0-1) fought back valiantly from that point on, but struggled to get shots on goal. Although the Tar Heels piled up 20 total shots compared to just nine for Texas (1-0-1), only six of those chances were on target.

It was a beautiful passing sequence from freshman Brianna Pinto to Rachel Dorwart that ultimately set up Otto’s game-tying goal, as she took the pass from Dorwart from about 10 yards out and found the back of the net.

Both teams struggled to convert chances as the game wore on, including through two 10-minute overtime periods–leading to the final result of a draw.
