After defeating Syracuse in convincing fashion this past Saturday to open the 2020 season, the UNC football team moved up six spots to No. 12 in the Associated Press Top 25 poll.

The Tar Heels were able to make such a huge leap because teams who are not competing in the fall–such as those from the Big Ten and PAC-12–were removed from the rankings this week.

Clemson held onto the No. 1 spot this week after a blowout win at Wake Forest, while the rest of the top five consists of No. 2 Alabama, No. 3 Oklahoma, No. 4 Georgia and No. 5 Florida.

Rounding out the top 10 is a group including: No. 6 LSU, No. 7 Notre Dame, No. 8 Auburn, No. 9 Texas and No. 10 Texas A&M.

The ACC gained four new ranked teams this week, giving the conference seven total. Those new teams joining the poll are: No. 17 Miami, No. 18 Louisville, No. 20 Virginia Tech and No. 25 Pittsburgh.
