A Chapel Hill restaurant is open again in a new location, while a new restaurant is set to open its doors later this week.

Japan Express, which moved from its building on South Elliott Road, reopened to customers last week. The Japanese fast food restaurant, which offers items like hibachi meals and sushi, renovated the plot at 106 South Estes Drive to construct a new building. According to Japan Express, staff are exclusively taking carry-out orders at the moment, as the COVID-19 pandemic limits seating options for many North Carolina restaurants.

Previously, the South Estes Drive spot housed a Pizza Hut franchise. The location Japan Express moved from, 261 South Elliott Road in Chapel Hill, is now home to the new Breadman’s restaurant.

In addition, another restaurant is soon to be added in that area.

Just Salad, a chain restaurant run by Cattell Street Brands, has announced it will hold its grand opening starting Saturday. The salad and wrap restaurant is located in Village Plaza at 111 South Elliott Road and will be open from 10 a.m. until 8 p.m. daily.

The Chapel Hill location of the New York-based restaurant is now the third franchise in the state, with Charlotte and Raleigh being home to the other Just Salad spots. According to the restaurant, it will offer customers 50 percent off all orders placed in-restaurant on Saturday and the first 100 people to visit will receive a Just Salad reusable tote bag.
