Under a new ownership group, The Casual Pint of Chapel Hill will reopen at its former location at 201 South Elliott Road. The ownership trio of Scott Huskin, Jason Dettman and Dave Vannier made the news official in a release Monday morning. The group is targeting May 1, 2026 as its official reopening date.
“We know how much this location meant to the local community, and we couldn’t let that legacy end,” Huskin said. “Our goal is to bring back everything people loved about this spot, but with the added stability and resources of an experienced leadership team. At the end of the day, we want to ensure that this remains the place where everybody knows your name.”
“We came and visited back in [the] September, October timeframe,” Dettman told Chapelboro, “and just kind of saw it alive. We knew it was a great opportunity and something that we wanted to keep it going.”
The owners say the final timeline “may adjust slightly” as final logistical and operational details are set up. The trio of Huskin, Dettman and Vannier also own another Casual Pint location in Arizona and individually run other franchises of the “beetstro.”
Under its former ownership group of Bill and Donna Darragh, The Casual Pint had announced its permanent closure in December after nearly six years of business. The Darraghs cited high operational costs in their decision.
Ahead of reopening, interested community members can view the location’s new menu here. The ownership group says the new food menu will be “expanded,” integrating favorites from other locations, while still offering a wide variety of North Carolina, out-of-state and international brews.
“We aren’t just reopening a bar,” Dettman said. “We are rebuilding a community hub. We are excited to introduce some new menu items and a fresh focus on guest experience that we’ve perfect in our other markets.”
