After falling behind by two sets early in Sunday’s match against Florida State at Carmichael Arena, all hope appeared lost for the UNC volleyball team–which began the season by dropping seven of its first eight contests.
Instead, the Tar Heels continued to flip the script on their season–rallying over the final three sets for the 3-2 victory (24-26, 20-25, 25-21, 25-23, 15-10) over the Seminoles.
Lauren Harrison was the team’s top performer with 24 kills and five blocks, while Skyler Wine added an additional 16 kills to the winning effort.
This marks UNC’s first win over a ranked opponent since 2016, when it also defeated Florida State. The Tar Heels (7-9, 4-2 ACC) have now won six of their last eight matches after the slow start.
Florida State falls to 10-5 overall and into a tie with UNC in the conference standings at 4-2.
