Saturday marked the final regular season match of the season for the UNC volleyball team, a 3-0 loss on the road at Miami (19-25, 19-25, 21-25).

Former Chapel Hill High School standout Kaya Merkler led the Tar Heels (10-8, 9-7 ACC) with 12 kills, but she was the only player to reach double figures in that category for head coach Joe Sagula as UNC suffered its fourth consecutive loss.

Miami (11-7, 10-7 ACC) posted a team hitting percentage of .318 on the way to the easy victory, while the Tar Heels had just a .161 success rate on the other end.

“This team, like many this past season has faced a lot of challenges,” Sagula said afterwards. “We have had to adapt every week and for that ability to keep going and learning how to compete, I am proud. This past weekend we showed good moments, but it was hard to sustain our level on the road.”
