The UNC women’s soccer team kept its season alive on Friday night with a 2-0 win over Kansas in NCAA Tournament Second Round action at Fetzer Field.

Seeking to end the longest national title drought in program history–a span that has lasted all of three years–the No. 2-seeded Tar Heels locked down defensively all night long, while receiving second-half goals from Madison Schultz and Maya Worth.

Schultz, a freshman forward from Edmonds, Washington, scored her fourth game-winning goal in UNC’s last six games when she sent home a pass from teammate Megan Buckingham in the 53rd minute.

As Kansas pressed on looking for an equalizer late in the game, Buckingham again showed her playmaking ability–assisting on Worth’s goal in the 79th minute, which was essentially the final nail in the Jayhawks’ coffin.

UNC goalie Lindsey Harris posted her second straight shutout in the NCAA Tournament, as the Tar Heels (15-3-4) outshot Kansas (11-6-4) by a margin of 19-5.

Next up for head coach Anson Dorrance and his team is a date with No. 3 seed Clemson–a familiar ACC foe–for a shot to advance to the Quarterfinals. Earlier this season, the Tar Heels and Tigers played to a 1-1 draw at Clemson.

Sunday’s matchup between the teams is set to begin in Chapel Hill at 1 p.m.
