Goals from Alessia Russo and Dorian Bailey helped guide the third-ranked UNC women’s soccer team to a 2-0 victory on the road Saturday night over the Virginia Tech Hokies.

The win was the Tar Heels’ sixth in a row and improves them to 12-2-1 this season, with a perfect 7-0 mark against ACC opponents. Virginia Tech, meanwhile, dropped to 7-5-3 overall and 3-4 inside the ACC.

UNC’s first goal came in the 22nd minute of action following a free kick from Julia Ashley that was sent to Bridgette Andrzejewski, who then passed it over to Russo for the finish.

That score held up for the majority of the match, until Bailey added the insurance goal with just over nine minutes left on the clock.
