Make it two consecutive impressive performances to begin the 2020 regular season for the 10th-ranked UNC men’s lacrosse team, as the Tar Heels took care of business with ease on Saturday at Dorrance Field–defeating the Mercer Bears 14-6.
Tanner Cook and Brian Cameron each had hat tricks to lead the UNC offensive output, while junior transfer Chris Gray–the reigning ACC Offensive Player of the Week–chipped in a goal and four assists.
In addition, Nicky Solomon also had two goals and tied Gray for the team lead with four assists.
The Tar Heels jumped out to a 9-3 by halftime against the Bears, and were able to go on cruise control for much of the second half with the outcome no longer in doubt.
For the game, UNC tallied 22 shots on goal while holding Mercer to just 11.
