Senior attacker Chris Cloutier scored a whopping six goals Wednesday afternoon at Kenan Stadium to lead the 10th-ranked UNC men’s lacrosse team to a dominant 14-7 win over the Mercer Bears.

It was the second-most prolific scoring game of Cloutier’s career, ranking just behind the nine goals he scored during the 2016 NCAA Semifinals vs. Loyola.

The win moved the Tar Heels to 5-0 this season, and was the 199th career victory for head coach Joe Breschi.

No other UNC player scored more than once, as nine different names ultimately found their way into the Tar Heel scoresheet.

By halftime, Cloutier and the Tar Heels had already built a 10-3 lead–which made for smooth sailing the rest of the afternoon.

William Perry’s goal in the fourth quarter extended UNC’s lead to 14-4, representing the biggest margin of the game.

In total, 34 different players saw action for the Tar Heels as Breschi mainly used the second half to get everyone some playing time.
