For the second time over the last two weeks, the UNC men’s tennis team knocked off the South Carolina Gamecocks on Friday in Madison, Wisconsin as part of the ITA National Indoor Championships.
The fourth-seeded Tar Heels defeated the Gamecocks 4-2 in Friday’s first round action, remaining undefeated on the season and punching their ticket into Saturday’s quarterfinals.
After winning the doubles point, UNC clinched the team win with singles victories from William Blumberg (6-2, 3-6, 6-3), Brian Cernoch (6-4, 6-0) and Benjamin Sigouin (7-6, 6-3).
As a result, the Tar Heels will take on fifth-seeded Florida on Saturday with a spot in the semifinals on the line.
