Sunday marked the latest impressive victory by the fourth-ranked UNC men’s tennis team, as the Tar Heels rolled to a 4-0 shutout victory over the No. 12 South Carolina Gamecocks in Chapel Hill.

The match began with UNC claiming the doubles point, and ended with three straight singles victories from Brian Cernoch (6-2, 6-2), Benjamin Sigouin (6-3, 6-2) and William Blumberg (6-3, 6-4).

To put in perspective how impressive this win was, Blumberg’s win came over defending NCAA Singles champion Paul Jubb and Sigouin defeated No. 21 ranked Daniel Rodrigues.

As a result, the Tar Heels improved to 6-0 this season–with all six victories coming in shutout fashion.

“First of all, South Carolina is a very well-coached team,” UNC head coach Sam Paul said afterwards. “We knew it was going to be tough as nails. I’m very proud of my team coming here and beating a really good quality team.”
