The fourth-ranked UNC men’s tennis team picked up a 4-0 victory over the Georgia State Panthers at the Cone-Kenfield Tennis Center in Chapel Hill on Sunday, earning the Tar Heels a place in the upcoming ITA National Indoor Championships.

After winning the doubles point to start the match, the Tar Heels got singles wins from Benjamin Sigouin (6-4, 6-1), Josh Peck (6-1, 6-3) and Mac Kiger (6-3, 6-0) to clinch the victory.

As a result, UNC will now get a chance to play in the ITA National Indoor Tournament for the sixth consecutive season. This year’s tournament will be held in Madison, Wisconsin from Feb. 14-17.

The Tar Heels also improve to 4-0 this season, while Georgia State falls to 1-1.

“I’m happy for our guys,” head coach Sam Paul said afterwards. “To get the doubles point and a lot of momentum against a good team was a good start. We’ll learn a lot from this match and carry it on with us, but I’m very pleased to be moving on.”
