The United Soccer Coaches revealed their women’s All-American teams on Thursday, with four Tar Heels making the cut this season.

Junior forward Alessia Russo, sophomore midfielder Brianna Pinto and junior defender Emily Fox were each named First Team All-American selections, while freshman defender Maycee Bell earned a spot on the Third Team.

This marks the first time UNC has had three First Team selections since 1995, and the first time the program has had four players named All-Americans of any kind since 2008.

For Russo, it’s her third consecutive All-American nod and second straight First Team selection. The England native leads the Tar Heels with 12 goals in 2019, and has also racked up three assists.

Pinto has started all 25 of UNC’s matches, tallying 11 goals and six assists in that time.

Despite tearing her ACL in the NCAA Quarterfinal victory over USC, Fox did enough this season–playing stout defense while scoring twice and dishing out 11 assists–to become one of three finalists for the MAC Hermann Trophy.

Bell’s first collegiate campaign, meanwhile, saw her score three goals and record one assist while leading the team in minutes played.
