UNC senior forward Giovanni Montesdeoca was chosen as a Third Team All-American on Thursday by the United Soccer Coaches.

Montesdeoca led the Tar Heels with five goals across the team’s 16 games, while also adding a pair of assists. This is the first time he has earned All-American status in his career.

UNC has gone 9-4-4 this season with Montesdeoca leading the way offensively, and has used a recent hot streak to earn a place in this year’s College Cup.

The Tar Heels will face Marshall in Friday’s Semifinals, as the program seeks its first national title since 2011.
